Fruitcake Caterpillar - 8.25"

A funny story. Well, not so funny, I guess, or at least not in the ha-ha way, but way, way back in 1991, back when I was still under the employ of Powell-Peralta and working on the “Claudia Schiffer” art for Adam McNatt’s debut pro model, I ultimately wanted the deck to be released with a perfume-scented postcard tucked inside the shrink wrap. You know, so it would smell like flipping through the aromatic pages of a Vogue or Cosmopolitan magazine, a scented physical act that now may not be appreciated or understood given the death throes of newsstands and print media. Anyway, I never found out if that gimmick was going to be a reality, because I got fired half-way through completion of the art—and the rest is a long, sordid tale you can go read in Disposable: A History of Skateboard Art(2004). Look, what I’m trying to say is I really, really wanted this deck to smell like a bake shop when the black bag was cracked open, but the sad fact of our company matter is that we have little means and even less know how. So no, this deck does not smell, but we did liven up the ply with a rainbow of colorful dye. —Cliver
